Our Newark Reserve program allows you to make a reservation on the TSA security screening line up to 72** hours before you get to the airport or while you are in the terminal. So, skip the line and book now!

*Only flights departing from Terminal B Gates 40-47. Alaska Airlines flights AS375, AS53, AS24 and Spirit Airlines flights NK58, NK521, NK703 are not eligible. Currently, this service is not available at EWR Terminal C.

Appointments are limited, reserve your spot early to get the appointment time you prefer. Newark Reserve is currently not available at TSA PreCheck security lines. All TSA PreCheck passengers should be screened at designated PreCheck lines in order to use their PreCheck benefits, such as not having to remove their shoes and electronics.

How it works:

  1. Sign up in advance up to 72 hours before your flight from Terminal B or when you arrive at Newark Airport by visiting here!
  2. Select the airline you're flying with, destination, and flight number along with your name, number of people in your party and contact information.
  3. Once you're at the airport, your time is yours! Check your bags, grab some coffee, spend more time with loved ones, or just walk up at your appointment time.
  4. Go to your assigned checkpoint and look for the Newark Reserve queue logo.

What is Newark Reserve? How does it work?

Newark Reserve is an appointment system for security screening! It has its own dedicated lane at the TSA Checkpoints, so when there's a steady flow of appointments, we can better manage queue lengths and wait times. All you need to do is reserve your time and show up at your assigned checkpoint at your appointment time, and you can enjoy an expedited security experience. Make sure to double check your gate when you arrive at the airport.

How do I use the Newark Reserve to save my spot?

Schedule your appointment up to 72 hours before your scheduled departure or sign up upon arrival at the airport by visiting here. You'll receive a QR code that you can use when you arrive at your scheduled time. Check your email for a copy that you can return to later.

What times can I use Newark Reserve?

Newark Reserve is available daily from 2 P.M to 6 P.M. at EWR Terminal B, Gates 40-47. Slots are limited, and may book up fast, so we recommend booking up to 72 hours in advance of your flight.

I'm connecting at Newark Liberty Airport, do I need to use the Newark Reserve?

Newark Reserve is optional for departing passengers, and connecting passengers who are arriving into another terminal and departing from Terminal B Gates 40-47. If you leave the secure side of the airport between flights, and need to re-enter through TSA Screening, you are welcome to use the program.

Can I use the Newark Reserve if I have TSA PreCheck or CLEAR?

No, Newark Reserve is only available to general screening passengers to help provide a better screening experience for those without a trusted traveler program and create efficiency where we have the highest demand. All TSA PreCheck or CLEAR passengers should be screened at the designated PreCheck or CLEAR line in order to use their PreCheck or CLEAR benefits, such as not having to remove their shoes and electronics.

Members of expedited programs can still use Newark Reserve if they want to, but they will not be able to realize the same benefits and will follow general screening practices. We hope to include trusted traveler programs in the future!

Is Newark Reserve free?

Yes, it's completely free for all passengers at participating checkpoints! There is no app, account or membership required to use the Newark Reserve.

I want to sign up for Newark Reserve, but the appointment times are unavailable, what do I do?

We're really sorry about the limited appointment times available and are working to improve. Due to high passenger volumes and demand, we recommend reserving your time as early as possible. Reservations can be made up to 72 hours before your flight.

I didn't make an appointment in advance; can I still use Newark Reserve?

Yes! When you arrive at the airport, you will see Newark Reserve signs featuring a QR code, which you can scan on your smartphone to set up an appointment.

What's the grace period for my Newark Reserve appointment?

You can still make it! We offer a grace period of 15 minutes per appointment time, so you may arrive any time during the 30-minute appointment window and enter the line. If you arrive more than 15 minutes past your appointment time, it would be best to reschedule your appointment (based on availability), or you may enter through the regular queue lanes.

I'm traveling as part of a group; can we book a Newark Reserve appointment together?

Yes! Passengers traveling with a group may book on behalf of the other passengers in their traveling party by specifying the total party size in the booking process. The maximum group size eligible to enter under one appointment is 10 passengers.

What information is required to book a Newark Reserve appointment?

There is no account registration or login required! Passengers utilizing the service will be asked to select the date of departure, destination airport, airline, flight number and party size. Lastly, they will be asked to provide an email to receive the appointment confirmation with the QR code as an attachment.

Can I cancel or change my Newark Reserve appointment?

Yes! After you've made your initial appointment, you will be able to access the confirmation email which contains a button to cancel or reschedule your appointment. You may want to do this if your gate has changed.

I didn't get a confirmation email for my Newark Reserve appointment, what do I do?

When signing up make sure that your email is typed correctly, and to check your inbox's junk or spam folders just in case! If you're still unable to find your appointment information after registering, you can sign up again for another appointment.

Help! I'm not seeing my flight as an option on Newark Reserve.

Make sure to check that the time, date, airline, flight number are all correct when signing up for your appointment. Newark Reserve is available daily from 2 P.M to 6 P.M at EWR Terminal B Gates 40-47 for all Spirit, Delta and Alaska flights except Alaska Airlines flights AS375, AS53, AS24 and Spirit Airlines flights NK58, NK521, NK703. Slots are limited and may book up fast, so we recommend booking up to 72 hours in advance of your flight. At this time, Newark Reserve slots for flights outside of these hours are currently unavailable for booking. Flights will be added to the system as departure gate plans are finalized. If you cannot find your flight, please check back within 24 hours of flight departure.

My flight was delayed. Can I still use Newark Reserve?

If your flight was delayed, you can either keep your appointment or reschedule your appointment for a later time through the link in the confirmation email. Appointments will not be available after 6:00 P.M. or before 2:00 P.M. at Terminal B. If you arrive at the checkpoint after 6:00 P.M. or before 2:00 P.M., you can use the general lane.

Do I need to make an appointment for each individual in my party?

No, only one appointment is needed for each party; however, each party may only consist of 10 individuals. If you party exceeds 10 individuals, please make a second appointment.

How else can I prepare for my trip?

As airport travel begins to return to pre-pandemic levels, travelers are strongly urged to build in as much extra time as possible, with a minimum three hours for international and two hours for domestic.
