NJ TRANSIT Service Changes

NJ TRANSIT trains are operating on a modified schedule from October 11 through November 14, 2026, due to Portal North Bridge construction.  

If you are traveling to or from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), check NJ TRANSIT train schedules before you travel and allow sufficient time to get to the airport.

 

Are NJ TRANSIT trains running to and from Newark Liberty International Airport?

Yes. NJ TRANSIT trains are operating with temporary service and schedule adjustments throughout Portal North Bridge work. Service may be reduced on lines that use the Portal Bridge corridor.

How do I get from Newark Airport to Manhattan by train? 

Take NJ TRANSIT from the Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station and transfer to PATH at Newark Penn Station or Hoboken to reach Manhattan.

Weekday NJ TRANSIT Midtown Direct trains will terminate at Hoboken instead of New York Penn Station during Portal North Bridge construction. 

Passengers can use two routes to reach New York City: 

• For Lower Manhattan: Take NJ TRANSIT to Newark Penn Station and transfer to PATH for service to World Trade Center.  
• For Midtown Manhattan: Take NJ TRANSIT to Hoboken and transfer to PATH for service to Christopher St, 9 St, 14 St, 23 St or 33 St.

Will PATH cross-honor NJ TRANSIT tickets during Portal North Bridge construction?

Yes. PATH will cross-honor NJ TRANSIT Midtown Direct tickets at designated turnstiles at Hoboken during the morning peak period and at 33 St in the peak travel direction. Cross-honoring is not available at Newark or World Trade Center PATH stations. 

PATH will also operate additional service during weekday peak periods to accommodate NJ TRANSIT customers traveling through Hoboken. Some PATH stations may experience increased crowding during morning and evening peak periods.
