Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard
EWR offers Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyards for travelers with non-visible disabilities, including autism, PTSD, hearing loss, and chronic conditions. Wearing a lanyard discreetly signals to airport staff that you may need extra time, assistance, or understanding during your journey.
Lanyards are free and available at the following locations, pre-security:
Terminal A Welcome Center Level 1:
6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET
Terminal A Sensory Room at pre-security Level 3:
6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET (call the number within the Sensory Rooms to obtain a Sunflower Lanyard.)
Terminal A Sensory Room at post-security Level 3:
Open all day (call the number within the Sensory Rooms to obtain a Sunflower Lanyard.)
Terminal B Welcome Center at Level 1:
8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET
Terminal C Welcome Center at Level 1:
8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET
A lanyard can also be mailed to you. To request a Sunflower Lanyard in advance of your trip, please complete this form opens in a new tab.
Requests must be sent at least 14 days before travel. Lanyards can only be mailed to domestic locations. We cannot guarantee that the lanyard will arrive in time for your trip.

Sensory rooms
Sensory spaces are designed to offer a quiet, low-stimulation environment for travelers who may feel overwhelmed by the busy airport setting. These areas are especially helpful for neurodivergent individuals, people with sensory sensitivities, or anyone who simply needs a moment of peace.
